Amazing location
St Ives 'Island' isn't really an island of course. It's a promontory, also known as St Ives Head - a green and rocky outcrop poking out into the sea and marking the western end of St Ives Bay. 'Island View' cottage faces this lovely outlook and the main bedroom has this beautiful view and sea views to either side.
Its like a mini park and has a lovely walk around the 'Island' in all weathers - We've often seen seals and dolphins from there too.
Porthgwidden Beach is just 30 seconds down the slope. A beautiful sheltered beach cove with calm crystal clear waters we have had many happy days playing with the kids in the surf and building sand castles.
Just 2 minutes walk in the other direction and you get to Porthmeor Beach. This long and spacious beach faces west so amazing sunsets during the summer months we've spent many nights watching the sun drop into the ocean, while sipping on a glass of wine. Porthmeor is also a famous surfing beach.Great fun body boarding or surfing here - get the kids booked into surf school for a few lessons, they will never forget the first wave they catch. X
Situated behind Porthmeor beach is the famous Tate Gallery which holds many fabulous works of art of all types. Well worth a visit.
You can sit in the Tate Gallery's excellent cafe, or in the cafe on the beach, and watch surfers all the year round.

Just 5 minutes walk and you are in St Ives town, with its fantastic harbour and cobbled stone streets where there are many local shops of all types. The town and harbour hosts many great pubs, i challenge you to do them all in a week (we've tried - can't )
Our favourites include 'The Sloop' - a fantastic pub Circa 1312 A.D., the Sloop Inn is situated right on the harbour front at St Ives with only a cobbled forecourt and road separating it from the sea. Great place to watch the world go by and meet fellow holiday makers.
The Castle Inn - Fore Street is another classic oldie worldie style pub which has great live music most weekends.
The Hub - caters for a younger crowd, offering great food and music with a million dollar view.
